Here in the Darlington County School District, we believe communication is key to the success of our students, our schools and our community. We are committed to using whatever communication tools are available toward the goals of strengthening school/parent/community ties and supporting our students. This year we are able to offer parents more options with the communication tools.
Texting
Parents can receive text messages through our SchoolConnects™ phone notification system. To sign up for the text messages, text “join” to 56360 from the SMS-capable phone on which you wish to receive the text messages. Important: If you wish to receive text messages, the mobile phone number must be listed on your child’s record in PowerSchool. You may unsubscribe at any time. Full details are on our website.
PeachJar™
The Darlington County School District will again use the PeachJar™ electronic flier notification system to distribute all outside fliers and most school communication this year. PeachJar™will automatically send the fliers to the email address you’ve provided during registration. Additional family members can sign up to receive the PeachJar™emails by going to the PeachJar™website and select the “Register” button in the top right corner. The individual registering must have a valid email address.
SchoolConnects™ Calls
We use SchoolConnects™, our automated phone notification system, to share general information (fee deadlines and parent meetings), emergency information (lockdowns, bomb threats), and school closings and delays with our families. In accord with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), parents and guardians may opt out of general information SchoolConnects™calls. If you would like to stop receiving SchoolConnects™general information calls on your cellphone, please complete the attached Opt Out form or visit the school district’s website at www.darlington.k12.sc.us. The form is under “For Parents”. SchoolConnects™calls about attendance, school closings or delays or crises are not impacted by this change.
Changes in Contact Information
The Darlington County School District requires that you provide notice of any changes in contact information (physical address and telephone numbers) to your child’s school within five (5) business days. This includes any change in the cell number(s) you provided to the district. Correct contact information is needed so that the DCSD may provide you with information regarding your child’s school(s) as well as any specific concerns related to your student. It is very important that you provide notice of any changes in the contact information to your child’s school within five business days. Should you fail to provide the DCSD with updated contact information, including notification that a cell phone number you have given the DCSD has been disconnected or reassigned, please be aware that the Darlington County School District disclaims liability for any alleged damages resulting from your failure to do so.
